Yikes! Almost forgot today's! A lot of pieces from the past floated into the present today. So when I saw my gym lock, I thought how some decisions can get set in ONE'S life and there's a point in those moments where the direction can be stopped or changed. Choose wisely!

One thing I try to do now and then especially in this age of electronic personal devices, is look up. Sometimes you miss the greatest views, interesting architecture, nature and even great art by just looking not looking up. Found thus one in the local library while picking up books for kindergarteners. Hug the one you're with.

I tried to get a more close up picture of this ONE but with my phone camera being as whack as it is, it didn't turn out so good. Although, I kind of like the way it looks, so grey and flat.

I bet you can guess why stop this photo today, that's right the dentist. It is the ONE place I am grateful for what they do and yet dread it. Which is odd considering I have pretty good teeth. Just grateful I have a great dentist and dental care team.

Day 25

I just happened to see this piece of randomness in the cafeteria this morning after breakfast duty. It was so cool! It brought me back to childhood where you just totally got lost in play. Totally oblivious to everything around you. It was just you and that ONE world you are creating. My favorite part of childhood, getting lost in the world of play or a great book, taking me out of this world and putting me in another one.

I put off today's peice till the very end. Almost wasn't sure what to do. Although earlier today the branches and plants etc gorgeous with light snow, I think its called hoarfrost. Realizing I need a new phone soon, because my phone no longer focuses in on fine detail. So that originally was going to be my picture for one. But that didn't work and I forgot about it. So the main thing I thought of is what's the first step to being creative. Gather your tools and create ONE clean space to start with. Hug the one you're with.

While taking a break this afternoon and sitting on the couch, I noticed this and decided it was perfect for today's piece. Have been feeling this way for the last 2 months. Kind of dangling, hanging in suspension. Like I'm waiting for something & I just don't know what.

Day 22

I know I've posted a picture of the lady bug before, but I'm going to post a few more. Ladybug is living by my kitchen sink under my brush cleaner containers. You may think why do I care about a ladybug. Keep in mind I work with little ONES. So now I have this fun story to tell them. Yesterday with my first graders, it sparked a conversation that went on for almost a half hour about ladybugs, pets and other fun things. Their reactions were just priceless.

Day 21

It was so fun this morning! For the past week or so, posters of the word super have been hung up in Paris, London, and other major European cities. Along with it has been a website. On that website it's been a countdown clock playing clips of music with the word super in a circle that changes colors. The countdown ended this morning at 7 o'clock Central Time. What was behind this super?

I love the Pet Shop Boys! I was even half tempted to get tickets to their concerts in Britain. They are and always will be my number ONE favorite musical group.

Day 19

Kind of hit a roadblock when I was thinking of what to post for today's piece. I just got off the phone my mom and was having a light after school snack of peanuts. When I decided to take ONE literally and create a 1 out of peanuts. Who knows the blog may go this direction by creating ones and using the creative 365 book as inspiration. Although I will still have a lot of spontaneous pictures. That's kind of who I am. Love the one you're with.

Day 18

Boy was it a cold ONE this morning! So being the creative that I am, I decided to play a little experiment with beauty and below zero weather. So I took a bowl and slowly started to build layers of water. Each layer I would sit outside and about 10 minutes later it be frozen. Then I'd add another layer and add some food coloring, put it outside 20 minutes later and I would continue to do this until I came to the end with a beautiful dome of different layers of Blues. It was so pretty! I kind of want to do this with some more. And then line my sidewalk with them but it's going to warm up mid-week. Oh well.

Day 17

Beer was it cold today! But that's typical of a Minnesota winter. So today I decided to play around with some water. I made a form, put some water in and set it outside. I was going to add the toothpicks to form the ONE but after only 8 minutes outside a thin layer of ice had already formed on top of the water. So the word one didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. But it was a kind of a cool little experiment.

Day 16

As I took down the last of my Christmas stuff , I took a picture of these two pieces. It's kind of a mashup of Christmas / winter. Making it ONE singular piece. And speaking of winter! Holy cow was it cold this morning. It's going to be even colder tomorrow. Time to huddle in.

Day 15

The highlight of the day, besides having a day in my classroom with no students, was seeing a rumored post that the Pet Shop Boys may have their new song released in just 5 days!!! I love the Pet Shop Boys!!! No! You don't understand. I love the Pet Shop Boys!! This is ONE big happy!

Day 14

Some people a pet cats, pet dogs, hamsters, rats, snakes etc, but I apparently have a pet ladybug. Lol. This little sweetie was hiding under a washcloth on my kitchen sink. I had seen her late in the fall for a few days, and then she disappeared. She's back. I know it's silly, but remember I do teach little kids. Now had it been a spider, that would have been a whole different issue! Until she's the ONE, where ever she went.

Nothing caught my eye for this blog today, although I wasn't really keeping it in my forefront of the mind. So tonight when I was thinking of what I was going to post, I was watching The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. And he gave me my number ONE. Hug the one you're with.

I have this awesome storage closet at work with high shelves.  This morning I was looking something and lo and behold, here this thing is again! Another ONE! In the past two and a half years I never noticed that was up there. I took a picture of it because I really like how the shadow the light in the early morning caused that cool shadow effect.

Day 11

Even though it was so cold this morning, it was so pretty. It was fairy dust snow, as I like to call it. Was like little pieces of glitter floating across the sky dancing through the light. Loved it! I was going to catch a picture of 11:11 because it is January 11th. And what better thing to put on a "One" blog than a bunch of ones but I missed it by one minute.
When I got home tonight, I noticed that fairy snow left a fine coat on my back steps. And ONE bird little left a trail of bird prints there on the steps. This in turn sparked an idea for another kids book. Hug the one you're with.

I'm a thought by now I was going to run out ideas for this blog, because it involves taking pictures that center around a theme. But it's so cool when images pop out of nowhere. Like today's piece. It's part of a larger picture, but I cropped it to look like a ONE. Can you guess what it is?

Day 9

Today I took a small snapshot of the inspiration behind One. This summer I had the opportunity to chat several times with a Wisconsin artist Denise Koch. I bought one of her paintings, which in reality I could have bought all her paintings. This close up is the ONE that I bought. I didn't know if I could show the whole painting so I took a close up of the most impressive part to me. The part that touched me deeply.   I see this picture and I get lost in it.  It's so represents me and how I feel these days.

Day 8

Sometimes when ONE lives alone they spend a lot of time in their own head. That's what I did not, being present in the moment and when my favorite chipped plate slipped from my hand, well you see the picture. The cool thing is when I was looking at the pieces and thinking of how I could use them in an art project. I notice it cracked in a sort of peace symbol way. peace. World definitely needs more of that.

Day 7

It's interesting how many random things you come across on a day-to-day basis. Take today's photo. Now that my classroom is on the first floor I pass this every day several times going up the stairs. I have seen this thing for years, 22 years. No clue what it is. This random thing on a wall. ONE shape in the midst of a blank wall.  Maybe it's there to bring me into present, because I notice it everytime no matter I'm mentally batting around.  I do have a nickname for it. But I won't say it here.

Day 6

Today at work, I had brought a lunch, first time in forever. But I put it in my mailbox instead of the fridge. And unfortunately I was actually hungry today at lunch too, with no hidden snacks in my room neither. Then came across this little one - a miniature orange thingy. Forget what they're called. It had seen better days including many visits to the floor,  not edible.  (and yes I know you peel it first so it shouldn't matter. Trust me on this one!) As I was about to throw it away with 15 minutes before my next batch of students, I decided it needed a face and here it is.  Sad little orange thingy. Poor little ONE.

Day 5

I sometimes like to put random things out usually in my classroom. Couple things in my house. Just to see if anybody notices them. In the back of my classroom, I have a tree, artificial one, and I have a bunch of stuffed monkeys hanging all over it, kind of hidden. Every once in a while, a student will get lost in thought and gaze around the room and notice the monkey. Usually they yell out with joy.  Today this little ONE caught my eye.

Day 4

Still don't have that mindset that I'm doing this blog as well this year. But luckily my ring caught my eye this morning on the way out to school. Where it was really stood out. When I actually tried to take a picture of it, it didn't look quite right. The background was too much of a distraction. So then I searched around and I found this cool little ledge and it worked out really cool. Lots of symbolism in this ONE too, just not going to get into it. Lol.

Day 1 of One

This idea came to me last Spring and floated in my mind for a few days and then vanished.  I thought it was gone forever. Should have wrote it down. And then something this late fall clicked it back in my mind. One.
Almost just left it at that but then again this morning the idea popped in once again. So here's a new year, 2016.  I began this new blog. Enjoy!
